Xin Changxing, Secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, investigated the Yunlong Lake Laboratory of Deep Underground Science and Engineering

On the morning of December 18th, Xin Changxing, the Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, visited the Yunlong Lake Laboratory of Deep underground Science and Engineering for a research inspection. He was accompanied by Chu Yonghong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee and Secretary-General of the Provincial Party Committee, Song Lewei, Secretary of the Xuzhou Municipal Party Committee, and Liu Bo, Secretary of the Party Committee of China University of Mining and Technology.

The Yunlong Lake Laboratory of Deep underground Science and Engineering is a major scientific and technological innovation platform jointly established by Xuzhou City and Jiangsu Province, leveraging the innovative resources of China University of Mining and Technology and large enterprises in Xuzhou. Walking along the spacious underground tunnels, Xin Changxing arrived at the main control room, where he listened to introductions on the laboratory's overall planning, research directions, capacity building, and international collaborations. He also visited research platforms for deep underground computing, drilling, and sensing detection, and engaged in discussions with researchers. Seeing the strong progress in various research projects and the application of a batch of scientific and technological achievements, Xin Changxing expressed his approval. He emphasized that the efficient utilization of deep underground resources and spaces is crucial for economic and social development. Xuzhou, with its unique natural conditions and rich educational and scientific resources, is well-positioned to develop deep underground science and engineering. He expressed hope that the laboratory would further enhance its sense of responsibility and mission, focus on national strategic needs and major scientific frontiers, facilitate the positive cycle of education, science, and talent, strengthen basic research and key core technology breakthroughs, expand application scenarios for new technologies and products, and help Jiangsu accelerate its transformation into an important hub for developing new productive forces.

Liu Bo provided a brief introduction to the distinctive features and disciplinary strengths of China University of Mining and Technology. He highlighted the university's efforts to leverage the research advantages of high-level talents, mobilize the entire university's resources, primarily relying on the National Key Laboratory of Intelligent Construction and Healthy Operation of Deep underground Engineering and other related disciplines, to meticulously integrate resources, optimize the allocation of forces, and innovate institutional mechanisms. These efforts have significantly supported the construction of the Yunlong Lake Laboratory. Liu Bo also stated that the university would further promote the integrated development of education, science, and technology, and make greater contributions to accelerating the construction of an education powerhouse, developing new productive forces, and better advancing regional coordinated development.
