On the afternoon of January 26, Song Lewei, Party Secretary of the Xuzhou Municipal Committee, visited the Yunlong Lake Laboratoryof Deep Underground Science and Engineeringto extend New Year greetings to Chief Scientist Lu Ming and Laboratory Director Li Xiaozhao. Accompanying him were Liu Bo, Secretary of the Party Committee of China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT), and Dai Minjie, Member of the Standing Committee of the Xuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Director of the Organization Department.

Secretary Song met with Lu Ming, Chief Scientist of the Yunlong Lake Laboratory and Academician of the Norwegian Academy of Engineering, as well as Li Xiaozhao, Director of the Yunlong Lake Laboratory and a first-tier talent under Jiangsu Province's "333 Project" for leading mid-career scientists. He highly praised the laboratory's achievements, stating that as outstanding representatives of high-level professional and technical talents innovating and starting businesses in Xuzhou, they have led their teams to integrate innovation resources, focus on scientific and technological breakthroughs, and achieve phased progress in platform development,achievement transformation, talent development, and collaborative exchanges. He expressed hope that the experts would continue leveraging their strengths and leadership roles, set higher benchmarks, strengthen original and pioneering research in deep-earth science and engineering, accelerate the formation of technological and industrial peaks in related fields, and provide solid support for Xuzhou's goal of building a regional sci-tech innovation hub.

Liu Bo, on behalf of CUMT, thanked the Xuzhou government for its long-term support for the university. She emphasized that the university is fully implementing the spirit of the National Education Congress and the"Education Power Construction Plan Outline (2024-2035)", and will leverage its strengths in science, technology, and talent to deepen university-local cooperation, jointly advance the high-quality development of the Yunlong Lake Laboratory, and contribute more expertise to regional progress.

Officials from relevant departments of Xuzhou and CUMT also attended the event.
