From November 1 to 3, 2024, CHINA ROCK 2024's Xuzhou main venue hosted Jiangsu’s first conference focused on Deep Underground Energy Development, Storage, and Safety.

Prominent attendees included leading academics such as Wang Fuming, Zhao Yuemin, Zhou Chenghu, Lü Ming, and Eivind Grøv, along with key government and industry representatives from Jiangsu and beyond. The event emphasized the importance of safe and sustainable deep underground energy development, highlighting the role of technological innovation and international cooperation.

Main Sessions and Events:

Roundtable for the Deep Underground Science and Engineering Journal: Celebrated its 2nd anniversary and inclusion in the ESCI database, with a video address from chief editor, Xie Heping.

Strategic Cooperation: Yunlong Lake Laboratory signed a strategic agreement with the Yellow River Laboratory and launched the Deep Underground Innovation Strategic Alliance.

Keynote Presentations: Leading experts presented research on topics such as underground energy storage, rock mechanics, hydrogen leakage prevention, and fault instability.

In addition, the conference organized specialized sessions on topics like underground modeling, big data, carbon waste disposal, and future deep underground industries. A forum was also held for young researchers and graduate students.

The event attracted over 300 experts and scholars from top institutions and industries, with over 5,000 participating online.
