
Governor of Jiangsu Province Visits Yunlong Lake Laboratory of Deep Earth Science and Engineering
On the afternoon of September 10, Governor Xu Kunlin of Jiangsu Province visited the Yunlong Lake Laboratory of Deep Earth Science and Engineering to assess its progress and development. He was accompanied by Lü Deming, Secretary-General of the Provincial Government, Song Lewei, Secretary of the Xuzhou Municipal Committee, and Liu Bo, Party Secretary of China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT).
During the visit, the laboratory's director, Li Xiaozhao, provided a detailed report on the lab’s strategic goals, key research areas, talent development, and the translation of scientific research into practical applications. Governor Xu emphasized the importance of aligning the laboratory's work with global cutting-edge research in deep earth sciences, addressing national priorities, and meeting economic demands. He urged the lab to integrate foundational and applied research, accelerate technological breakthroughs, and contribute to making Jiangsu a leader in innovative industrial technologies.
Liu Bo, Party Secretary of CUMT, highlighted the university’s commitment to advancing China’s national strategy of deep earth exploration. He reaffirmed the university’s dedication to training young, innovative talent, producing groundbreaking research, and supporting the development of Yunlong Lake Laboratory. He expressed confidence that the laboratory would play a key role in strengthening Jiangsu’s position as a hub for scientific and educational excellence.
Officials from the Jiangsu Provincial Government, the Department of Industry and Information Technology, and the Department of Science and Technology also participated in the visit.
